SHAMANISM IN TUVA

Shamanism, widely spread among Tuvans in recent times, has been studied up to the very last time by ethnographers.

            As witnessed from historical and ethnographic research made by scientists-tuvinologists S.I. Vainshtein, L.P Potapov, V. Dyakonova, and M. Kenin-Lopsan shamanism was an integral part of spiritual and cultural life of Tuvan people. Shamanism is based on the belief that shamans are able to communicate directly with Spirits of Earth and Sky. During kamlanie shaman performed poetic forms of well-wishes, all sorts of blessings, appeals to spirits, invocations and so on.
